Revered Philippine boxing hero Manny Pacquiao plays the lead role of Ambrosio "Bruce" Lerio, a young "probinsyano" who travels to Manila searching for a better life in order to support his sick mother and blind sister. Through the help of his uncle Pedring, Bruce sells "balut" and "chicharon" night and day to support his family. While working as a street vendor, he befriends three policemen. They discover his other identity as a suspended boxer who accidentally killed the brother of his childhood sweetheart Fannie. Soon he finds himself training once again for fights under Fernan Balani, an international boxing promoter. Unfortunately for him, a number of people don't like the talented boxer's rise to fame. As Bruce prepares for a World Title fight, thugs who want a share of his rising fortunes kidnap his mother and sister. But things eventually turn toward Bruce's favor and because of his talent, he is able to rise from dire poverty and emerge victorious in the game of life.
